From 3 to 5 November 2026, the Jeanneau Yachts 55 and Jeanneau Yachts 60 will be available for private sea trials in Canet-en-Roussillon, on the French Mediterranean coast. If either boat is on your shortlist, this is a chance to sail her properly, by appointment, rather than walk through her on a crowded show pontoon.
Both yachts sit at the top of Jeanneau's sailing range, and both are offshore cruisers. They're built for owners who plan to cover real distance and live aboard for weeks at a time, so they're best judged with sails up and some breeze, not tied alongside.
The 55 is laid out around the owner. The forward owner's suite takes up two-thirds of the interior, which is a generous share on a boat of this size and says a lot about who she's designed for. Up top there's a dual cockpit, which in practice means the working end of the boat can be kept apart from the space where guests sit, eat and relax. On a long passage that separation makes a difference to everyone on board.
The 60 takes a different approach. Five feet longer, she comes with a choice of 19 layouts, so the interior can be arranged around how you'll actually use her, whether that's a couple sailing with occasional guests or a larger family crew. The styling is clean and modern. With that many options, a sea trial is a good moment to talk through cabin arrangements while you're on board and can see how the space flows.
Private appointments mean you'll have time with the boat and the people who know her. It's worth arriving with a list. Take the helm and get a feel for how she tracks and how the sail controls fall to hand. Spend time below while she's moving and notice where you'd brace yourself and where you'd sleep in a seaway. Look at how the cockpit works with two or three people handling lines. And if you're thinking about who'll crew for you, picture the boat short-handed, because that's often how larger cruisers end up being sailed.
For buyers in Scotland, the practical questions matter as much as the sailing. A yacht of this size raises things like berthing, delivery, commissioning and how she'll be looked after once she's here. We've been selling and caring for boats on the Clyde since 1965, from Largs Yacht Haven and Troon Yacht Haven, and as the Jeanneau dealer for Scotland we can help with all of that, along with part-exchange or brokerage if you have a boat to sell first.
Places on the water are arranged by appointment across the three days. Register your interest and a member of the team will be in touch to agree a date and time that suits you. If you'd like to talk through either model beforehand, get in touch with us or have a look at the Yachts 55 and Yachts 60 pages.
