Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 49i

A previous-model 49-foot Jeanneau cruiser, roomy and bright below and easy for a short-handed crew to sail further and faster.

Jeanneau no longer builds the Sun Odyssey 49i, but she remains a 49-footer worth a close look if you want a big, comfortable cruiser that doesn't need a full crew. She was drawn to go further and faster, and to stay easy to handle short-handed.

Most of what makes her appealing is below. The galley is large, the saloon is spacious, and the interior has modern styling with a lot of natural light and good ventilation. A cruise is mostly the time you spend together aboard, and this layout gives you room for it.

The chart table and navigation station are well finished, a proper place to plan a passage rather than a corner of the saloon table. She's comfortable both under way and at anchor.

Steering is light and the winches give precise control over sail trim, which is what lets a couple manage a boat of this size.

Length overall is 15.07 m and the hull length is 14.75 m. She carries 615 l of fresh water and 240 l of fuel.
