Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 479

A 48-foot Philippe Briand design from Jeanneau's previous range, with three or four cabins, for owners who want room aboard and a boat that's easy to sail.
Jeanneau no longer builds the Sun Odyssey 479, so any you'll find now are previously owned boats. She's a 48-foot cruiser, around 15 metres, and came with either three or four cabins, which makes her a good fit for a family or for two couples sharing.
Philippe Briand drew the lines, working with Philippe Briand Yacht Design and Jeanneau design. The hull is long and the freeboard moderate, so she sits low and looks lean in the water, and that shape is also what gives her good speed at sea.
The figures: 14.43 m overall, 13.65 m on the hull, 4.49 m in the beam and a draught of 2.24 m. Tankage is 240 l of fuel and 615 l of fresh water, enough for a few days away between marinas.
When she was current, Jeanneau built her with the newer ideas from across the Sun Odyssey range. The aim was a layout that works well when you're living aboard, a lot of space below and careful finishing, while keeping her straightforward to handle under sail.
