Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 42.2
A previous-model Jeanneau cruiser of 12.80 m, designed for ocean passages, with 3 or 4 cabins and generous tankage for crews planning longer trips.
Jeanneau drew the Sun Odyssey 42.2 for ocean sailing, and although the yard no longer builds her, she still makes a sensible choice for anyone wanting to cover real distance in comfort. When she was launched, Jeanneau saw her as a turning point in its development of fast passagemakers.
The practical numbers back that up. There's 440 litres of fresh water and 175 litres of fuel, a 2 m draught, and a hull length of 12.3 m within 12.8 m overall. She's rated for up to 8 people.
For her size there's a lot of room below. You can have her with 3 or 4 cabins, and the saloon is bright, with good-quality finishes that give it a warm feel.
On deck the aim was a boat that's simple to handle and stable, with a hull shaped to cope with a wide range of conditions. That stability pays off at anchor too, where she's a comfortable place to spend time once the sailing's done.
