Obsolete model · Sun Odyssey

A previous-model 10.34 m Jeanneau cruiser with a winged shoal keel and a high, sheltered cockpit, suited to families and to newer sailors gaining confidence.
Jeanneau no longer builds the Sun Odyssey 349, but she was one of the biggest successes in the range, and it's easy to see why. She answers the helm well and is simple to handle, which makes her a sensible boat for a keen beginner and still a satisfying one for someone with years of sailing behind them.
Families tend to like the cockpit. The coaming is high, so children are well contained, and it stays comfortable to lean against when she's heeled. The winged shoal keel gives a draught of 1.98 m and lets you get into shallower anchorages, while still providing good lift and keeping drag low. A wide hull and sail controls laid out for cruising help her along.
Below, there are two layouts to look for. One has three proper double cabins, the other has two cabins and a storage space, which suits owners planning longer passages and needing room for gear. The saloon has generous headroom, and the removable seat and retractable chart table mean you can open the space up when friends come aboard in the evening.
She was drawn by Marc Lombard Yacht Design Group with Jeanneau's own design team. Length overall is 10.34 m, hull length 9.97 m and beam 3.44 m. Tankage is 130 l of fuel and 206 l of fresh water, or 206 + 336 l on boats with the larger option.
From Jeanneau’s archive. Figures varied between versions and years.
