Jeanneau Sun Fast 36
A Philippe Briand cruiser-racer from Jeanneau, now out of production, suited to sailors who want brisk passages and a comfortable, traditional wooden interior.
Jeanneau no longer builds the Sun Fast 36, so any you'll find now will have a few seasons behind her. She came from the board of Philippe Briand and belonged to what was then a new generation of cruiser-racers, meant to be as happy lazing at anchor as she is out sailing hard.
The interior is finished in Makore and Maobi wood, with leather as an option. Both woods have a long record of standing up to life afloat, and they give her a proper marine look. She was fitted out to be lived on at sea in all sorts of weather, which is why you'll find nonslip flooring and a grating at the cabin entrance.
For her size she carries a long waterline, and it's that which lets her hold good average speeds. Before she went into production she'd covered more than 500 nautical miles of sea trials, some of them sailed by Philippe Poupon, who was advising Jeanneau on the technical side.
She measures 11.31 m overall and 11.11 m on the hull, and draws 2 m. She's rated for up to 8 people, and the tanks hold 90 l of fuel and 280 l of fresh water.
